Default Is it harmful to use Meguiars Plastx

Is it harmful to use Meguiars Plastx after every car wash. I use it even if the lens looks clean & clear. Is there any harsh cleaning chemicals in there that will harm my lens if used to often. Also i heard ppl using carnauba wax on their headlight lens, is that a good idea and does it make the headlight shiny?

I used it once a month on various clear plastics on my car.
I don't see any harm in it.

No harm done.
Plastic lenses come with a clear coat from the factory to protect the plastic. When this fails, the plastic underneath oxidizes and turns yellow

I don't see no harm in using it. I used it on the headlights on my nephew's ES and it restored the plastic leaving most of it somewhat clear.

I just used it on mine and it made a hella difference. The only problem is I have a TON of tiny waterspots on the INSIDE of the headlight assembly.

I'm just trying to get the nerve up to do the oven trick and use PlastX on the inside. I'm scared of screwing something up and I can't afford new lights

plastx is a light abrasive. won't this scratch off the clear coat?
i thought plastx was made for oxidized lamps only, not lamps in good shape.

I used PlastX after every wash and then protect with a wax...I've been using it on my brand new headlights for 2 years now with the same method and it works like a charm..I would recommend it for everyone...

Default A great product to repair oxidized or fogged headlights!

I found this product at Wal Mart the other day and thought I would give it a try. My head lights were not oxidized really bad or anything but they were not in the best shape ever. The top half of both of them were slightly oxidized and fogged so I decided to purchase this product "CRYSTAL VIEW" it is made by a chemical company and comes as a complete kit that includes everything you need to get the job done start to finish in about 20 min. They have a lifetime warranty on it as well. Their website is www.myheadlight.com You can order it on their website but I found it at Walmart by the automotive lighting and switches etc... It's cheaper through Walmart anyways... I got great results and to me it was worth the $20 I paid for it. My headlights look great now and if anyone wants pics let me know. I unfortunatley don't have any before pictures because as I said before, my headlights weren't that bad. The after result is amazing though. I never thought that sanding your headlights would make them more clear!!!!!

-Till then...
Jon

Make sure you don't get PlastiX on your rubber seals. It dries them out.

If you're lens is yellowing, then there is no need to worry about scratching the clear coat off...cuz its already gone. Once you use the Plastx to restore your lamp assembly, you can use it again and again, even if it the lamp looks clear.
