MERGED THREADS - Cleaning/Caring for microfiber towels

Microfiber cleaning?
Anyone know if its ok to wash microfiber towels in regular laundry detergent? or do you have to buy the special microfiber detergent? I'm not new to using microfibers but I just want to make sure I dont somehow screw up the charge or whatever by using normal detergent.

I have been using TideHE in a front loader for several years with good results. I also put white vinegar in the final rinse cycle which acts as a natural softener and keeps the MF very absorbent.
As already mentioned, I would caution not to wash any MF towels with any other fabric as the MF acts as a lint magnet. Once you get lint into the MF, it will perform poorly from then on. You can't wash the lint out. Try cleaning a windshield with one of these towels and all you will see is a trail of lint on the glass. Same things happens on paint but it is most obvious on dark colors.
I always wash my MF's as a separate batch and pop them into the dryer. They are pretty sturdy if you buy quality towels.

We always recommend shying away from any cleaners that contain bleach, fabric softeners and especially non-liquid (ie: powder) detergents.
Your best bet for microfiber towels is to use microrestore:

wash on hot and dry in hot also
