Hello,
I bought my RX300 from Lexus Fremont 2 mths ago, and forked out around $500 for "The Magnashield" which is guaranteed to provide enhanced int/ext protection.

The benefits/performance of it sounded [and so far have been] excellent, but I'm wondering if members are familiar with it - the only thing the dealer can tell me is that "..It's a special polymer that bonds... doesn't wash off' [ext, obviously]...

What do you know about this - and hopefully I haven't been ripped off ?

You've been ripped off. The ONLY thing that bonds to the surface is something like Invinca-shield or Stonguard, see the other posts in this section about it. Sorry. It's called DEALER PROFIT!

AKA "slush" or very high margin extras added by the dealer on site. Stripes, paint sealants, more undercoating (does more harm than good when incorrectly applied, as is usually the case). Long ago Honda dealers used to add (among other things) $250 to Scotchgard fabric seats; of course, a can of Scotchgard at Walmart cost $6, but if you bought the car, you got it (applied) for only an extra $244.

I am sorry that Lexus dealers have gotten numerous enough and Lexus vehicles popular enough that they can get away with crap like that plus the frequent commisions of ****ty service mentioned on this board in other threads.
