need help cleaning sticky shifter
i must have spilled something sticky, and my gear shifter in my gs is really sticky. thought 1 was to spill some water and just shift a bunch of times til it went away. thought 2 was to use a spray bottle. any thoughts/ideas?

Outside of maybe spraying some WD40 down along the shifter opening( with the tube nozzle), I can't think of a "quick & easy" fix that you can just spray on there, you're gonna need some mechanical agitation to get the gunk out. My advice is to remove the console cover and clean it from both sides with a soft toothbrush and some Dawn dish detergent & water. The toothbrush in conjuntion with the soap will get into the nooks and crannies .
The WD40 might break up some of the goo, whether or not it's enough is anyone's guess.. Maybe someone else has a better solution, but I don't see one that would be as effective as just getting into it the "manual labor" way. Good luck though!
