... better than the $8k OEM pad change for steel brakes on the GT-R that Nissan stealerships are trying to charge (by claiming that pads and rotors must be replaced at the same time).

An F430 Scuderia owner I ran into at Autobahn CC had carbon ceramics and mentioned OEM pads were around $4k a set from his dealer. He actually complained more about the labor cost IIRC.
I know the Ferrari carbon ceramic rotors are over $20k, and I'd expect the LFA ones to be at least that much. Of course, these shouldn't have to be replaced under normal wear and tear (unless someone out there really wants to test if the LFA is as reliable as any other Lexus).
I didn't ever think that a brake pad change on an LFA would be as cheap as my common IS. Or even close. But you can buy a custom spec Carbon BBK from AP racing for 15K.
well I have no intention of ever having to replace the rotors due to wear and tear... that's the point of ceramics right, haha
I hope you're right. Otherwise, I'd by a complete set now and put it in a safety deposit box. Man, Lexus must have spent a ton of money changing pads when Scott Pruett was out there giving laps around various tracks across the country.
I really don't see a person dropping 400k on a car and then tripping out on a 5-7k brake job. It kind of goes with the territory. If you can drop $400,000 on a car I'm sure he 7k on brakes is like us spending a couple of hundred bucks. It's all relative.
I agree with above. If you have 400k to buy a "fun car" with that is most likely not going to be the only vehicle in your garage, you will have 7k for brakes. The replacement cost seems to be inline with what I remember reading a replacement of 4 pads/discs on an Enzo is, roughly 30k.
Now after just reading that other thread in Car Chat about the Ferrari 355 repair bill, that almost seems like a bargain getting a rebuilt engine for 47k for 30k just for a complete brake job. I can't imagine what it'd cost to rebuild one of these motors...
