lol. I think the 12 speaker is fine, though I dont exactly have a ear for sophisticated systems. The fact is that the airy cabin of the RX and the lack of speakers in the rear of the car severely inhibit the sound quality anyway, regardless of brand.
Well, I think when every luxury car manufacturer tells their speaker system, Lexus ought to tell what brand it is using. Why does it just mention about ML only. What about majority of us who did not select ML? Alteast we got to know what is in the car!
This is not a comment on the quality of the car. This is just about knowing the brand name.

I dont think Mercedes, bmw, or audi tells you who makes their stock sound system, at least not openly on their website. Everyone only lists their premium sound maker
Looks alone, those speakers are definitely an improvement over the 2nd gen. Can you say paper?
I'm probably going to dynamat different areas like MEP did because even ML isn't perfect. That's definitely cheaper and easier than changing the speakers out.

That's a good idea I think. Since it is two days old, I wouldn't touch yet. But definitely sometime soon
I have a 2005 Tacoma as well as the RX. I went to change the speakers on the Tacoma, OMG. I am surprised sound comes out of them. The ML speakers on the RX aren't bad.

Me too, i need to go to the doctor to check my ears. The sound is awesome to me already. Sometimes i have to lower the Bass.
There's a difference in sound clarity and flatness when listening to mid/high range. 12 speakers of mediocre sound doesn't improve sound.
If you guys want to be able to learn how to listen to sound quality, get a good headphones (No, not those Beats by Dre, just my opinion), upload an mp3 file @ 128kbps, 192kbps, 320kbps, and a direct rips from CD wav file of the same song.
If the songs are upload from itunes, have the EQ preset to rock then on your ipod, turn EQ off.
You'll notice a difference if you listen from 128kbps to CD quality.
If you have a home theater with good calibrated sound system, playing an mp3 vs a CD of the same song, can make you notice the difference in sound depth and clarity.
