Default How to reset "Service Engine Soon" light?

I got my GX470 serviced at 5K miles like I was supposed to, but as soon as it hit 7.5K miles the "Service Engine Soon" light came on (to let me know I needed my oil changed). When I took my GX to the dealership, they said sorry, they must have forgoten to reset the computer when they changed to oil. Then a tech got into my car, cut the engine off and pressed some buttons and presto the light went off! I would love to know the correct combiniation of buttons to press to deactivate this light so if in the future, if this occurs again, I will not have to go to the dealership. It wsa obvioius that the tech did not use a computer hooked up to the interface port like I thought he would, it was a simple combination of key and pressing buttons. PLEASE HELP IF YOU KNOW!!!!! Thanks

Turn ign switch on, Set odometer?trip display to the ODO mode, Turn Ign switch off, depress and hold the trip Display button while turning key to the on position, The service maintain light will illuminate solidly for 3 seconds, Blink for 2 seconds, Illuminate solidly for 1 second, release trip depress button, shut switch off, turn key back on and confirm light will go out after a sec or so.

My dealer forgot to reset me a couple months back. He emailed me TSIB EL002-03, and thought I could handle resetting it to save me the drive. He asked that I destroy the bulletin after use.....I guess I forgot that part!!!

To reset the Service Maintenance Reminder Light;
1. Turn the ignition switch to the 'ON' position.
2. Set the Odometer / Trip Display to the 'ODO" mode.
3. Turn the ignition switch to the "OFF" position.
4. Depress and HOLD the Trip Meter 'RESET" button while turning the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
5. The Service Maintenance Reminder Light will:
a. Illuminate solidly for 3 seconds.
b. Blink for 2 seconds.
c. Illuminate solidly for 1 second.
d. Turn Off.
6. Release the Trip Meter "RESET" button.
7. Turn the igition to the "OFF" position
8. Turn the igition to the "ON" position, and confirm that the Service Maitenance Reminder Light goes out.

Note: If the light continues blinking in step 5a, turn the ignition off, and repeat the procedure from step 1.

Can you change the interval of the service light from 5,000 to say 7,500?

Not sure on the newer years, but on my 03, it's a straight 5K reset.
