Default DIY: 2nd Gen GS Fog Light Bulb Replacement

Of all the DIYs on this board, I couldn't find one for a 2nd Gen GS Fog Light replacement. I found one for a 3rd Gen which states you have to go through the wheel well. This is not the case for the 2nd Gen which made this writeup a piece of cake.

STEP 1: GRAB A PHILLIPS SCREWDRIVER AND LOCATE THE TWO SCREWS HOLDING THE FOG LIGHT HOUSING.

Step 3: Remove the fog light housing. It comes out at a slight angle. This picture is the front passenger side fog light.

Last: Pop your new bulb into the harness, twist back into your Fog Light Housing and simply install and screw your housing back into place.

Note: There is a little tab on one side of the Fog Light housing that fits into a little slot in the plastic bumper space. The Fog Light has to go back in at the same angle you took it out so that it properly fits back into the slot.

This really takes only 5 minutes per side. Really simple! Hope this helps!

By the way - if you want to change your Side Markers or the Side Marker bulbs, you have very good access to them with your Fog Lights removed from the inside. There is a separate DIY on these boards for Side Marker replacement using this method.

Good D.I.Y. with pics

Also, F.Y.I., if one wanted to put HID's in the fogs, this is the way to do it. Just mount the ballasts in those housings. What I did was I mounted the ballasts vertically, so it would be away from water, as there are some small holes horizontally in the black plastic liner. I added a relay, and ran it via the passenger side housing, up to where the battery is

you could also place the Ballast in the Engine Bay.

Yeah I did feel around in there trying to find a place where I might be able to mount a ballast someday. Would you just use the double sided sticky tape? I'd hate to see a ballast dragging under the car when it came loose.

Lol I just logged on to mention the allen screws The size of the screws are 5mm x 16mm, and you can pick them up at home depot for a few dollars.

I used 3M double sided tape. I'm pretty sure I used zip ties as well. To my knowledge, it has worked to date (I haven't opened anything up since last year when I installed them lol).
