I'll bite the bullet for the CL discount!!$200... and it's been programmed to my F that I no longer have :-(

FYI, adding new OEM key is about $50 but to reprogrammed the used key to another vehicle required swiped out all existing program then adding new program with is cost over $250.
For those of you want to buy used key, make sure ask your dealer before purchase.
GLWS!!!

If it's been programmed, then it's no good...

For the looks of it. U have two choices: give it up for like 10 bucks or keep it as a souvenir.

Why are people spreading false information? I reprogrammed a used wallet card before in 10 minutes at a local dealership and went on my way. You can reprogram anything.

which dealership did you go too?

Any lexus dealership can do it. I got mine done at Newport Lexus only because my friend is a tech there

Not meaning to offend you, ISFpat and lexuswtf. Yes, an used fob/card can definitely be reprogrammed at any dealership, but not everyone has connections to techs. In order to reprogram an used fob/card, the smart key ECU needs to be cleared with a seed number that only a master tech has access to. Then all fobs/cards must be paired with the smart key ECU again.

It will cost approx. an hour to two worth of labor charge at the dealership. How I know? Because I bought an used card from eBay for $60, and thought it could be reprogrammed easily. After visiting four dealerships and found out the reprogramming cost is almost as much as buying a new card I bought a new card instead.

(PS: I wrote a DIY on how to program new smart cards via Techstream in the 2IS forums).

thnx all for the opinions and insight!!.... to each their own.. so if anyone wants to shoot me an offer I'll gladly entertain... !!

Damn, what dealers take an hour of two? Maybe with lunch and polishing all their tools involved...it takes no more than 15 min to 20 min tops, they are the dealer and they should be using the tech type 2 equipment. I had lock smiths do the reprogramming in 40 min for 2 keys and they were used. I have found out though not all dealers have the right equipment, older equipment does take longer. Before buying any used key ask the dealer first. Also FYI to everyone, some dealers will do it for free. It's all up to the service manager.
