i don't know the professional terms to describe my personal experience, but when i had the stock cap on my IS350 and took a long distance drive going to Vegas from SoCal (while beating on it consistantly), the radiator fluid somehow overflow/leaked out from the cap (i checked it @ a gas station when i got to vegas).

then on the way back I installed this Blitz radiator cap (not the brand new one I'm selling here), and the fluid never leaked out since then till the day I sold the car!

rad caps are not about how much temp it can lower, but how much heat it can retain within the system. also if the system is at a higher altitude, the higher pressure adjusts for the lower atmospheric pressure which causes water to boil at a lower temperature.

the op's trip to vegas while beating on the car now and then perfectly explains why the oem cap isn't holding up too well. high altitude + abuse.
