+1 on Bilsteins. I recently installed a set of HD's and the ride is really nice. Firmer than stock (no more float) and yet not harsh at all. Nice compromise between stock like comfort and upgraded performance.

Ahh , your coming from a euro where they are common.
Bilsteins I find to be stiffer than others when it comes to larger cars , especially luxury cars. Some find it a great improvement in response but they also had dead shocks to start.
I have seen them for IS300's but not for the GS , it might be easier to find some tokico blues which are comparable to the bilstein lineup .
