Batteries that reach a certain age on the shelf must be rotated back to the distributor or factory. This is also true for returns from customers as they can no longer be sold as NEW. Sometimes they are re-stickered with a new date code, sometimes they are de-plaqued and are sold out to other distributors for sale under another name. Either way the posts on the battery in the picture does show that a post cleaner has been used on the battery. A new battery would not have this.
Put another way, some automotive chains out there carry gel batteries under the name of Optima, Orbital,etc.... Depending on the contract they have with the battery distributor, they may just write off the battery after 6month to a year and then once re-plaqued (name brand label removed), they place their own label on the battery and sell them off for $25.00 or so. Very difficult to come by as the employees normally pick them up before they get to the customers. The warranty then is from 0-24 months. I would recommend posting a pic of the warranty paperwork you received with this as an Optima dealer would not cover this battery because as far as they are concerned, it is no longer an Optima. The outlet that sold this battery MAY have their own warranty though.
Not to mess up your listing, just trying to clarify a few things for others here so that members can make an informed decision.
Hope that helps
