Hello, I am looking to buy the latest upgrade navigation cd for my 2000 GS300. Please reply or know of someone selling one cheaper than I found from Lexus for $260.00

i think you are gonna run into the same problem i did, i have a 00 gs3 with navi too , i bought a dcd navigation update on ebay and went to install and relized that the 00's have a hard drive beased navi not the dvd based. i cant find anything cheaper than 260 so if anyone knows it would be great. thanks

Rick, please explain, do I not want the cd-rom disk upgrade? If I have the hard drive based navi than what form of software to I need to get to be able to upgrade? Sorry.....not familiar with sort of stuff....

hey i am not very familar either,
what happened was i ordered a dvd/cd navi 03 update for my car thinkin it would help, well when i went to install in teh anvi unit in the trunk i cam eto relize that it wasnt cd/dvd based, after talkin to my local lesxus dealership and posting some things here on the site i relized that 2000 and older have the hard drive based navi, and 01-up have the dvd based, since we have hard drive e can still upgrade but you have to get the software installed by your dealer. they have i believe the spetember 03 update right now for the harddrive updates. hoep this helps

98~2000 GSs uses Hard-Drive based Navigation, which can only be upgraded by updating the software/firmware on the hard drive. The only way to do it is to take it to the dealer and have them upgrade it. They upgrade by taking your HD out and installing another HD that's upgraded (most likely from the last person who wanted the upgrade also). I'm sure that's how they upgrade NAV on the 98~00 NAVs.

And 260 sounds like a reasonable price. I was quoted around that price also.

260 for a nav CD is a good price... in NY here Dealers Have the b*lls to charge 450 to 950 depending on the dealer.

I have seen something about people backing up their DVD's
