That's nice, and thanks for keeping up with the info. I really hope your problem is solved (as well as mine) and that they put the car back together well so no new noises appear.

At first I didn't think I had it; now I know I do... Many will come to realize it, sooner or later.

I was told by my dealer a couple of weeks ago. Lexus will not release a TSIB until they have enough kits to fix all vehicles affected. If you want the fix now, have your service dept. contact the Lexus zone rep for your area.

That sounds like good news.

Mallory, did you also have the TSB applied for the transmission to eliminate the torque converter from disengaging at a stop? I'm very curious to hear how that works.

Congrats on the successful repair for wind noise!!!

Thank you for sharing your experiences as one of the first CL members to subject their vehicle to the wind noise fix. Your details will be invaluable for other LS 460 owners who will be undergoing the same procedure.

Hopefully the door scratches are not too bad, and I'm glad the dealer fixed the window trim/door handle cover (I assume removed during the procedure). One other CL member mentioned getting a protective cover for the door post, but evidently Lexus may have a future fix for that.

As for the alarm warning sticker, is it possible to order one or create a facsimile? PS gurus can help with that.

But the bottom line is key:

Mallory - congratulations on the fix. I will take this information to my dealer and see what they say - especially, after they said there is no fix for this issue.
If you don't mind me asking, what is the name of the dealership that corrected your problem.

A Lexus dealership in Indiana, I assume, corrected Mallory's wind noise problem.

As Mallory and others have indicated, the TSIB has not yet been issued as there are insufficient repair kits at present. Only a limited number of kits are available for those that specifically request it. Probably also there is confusion on whether a fix is effective, as Newport Lexus reportedly says. However Mallory is the first on CL to report that the new, factory-sanctioned fix (implemented in July; all prior efforts were more experimental) apprarently works.

It's probable that right now the news is propagating throughout the dealer network. Some dealers probably still believe there is no working fix, but the news should get to them soon.

2007es350 - I see that you are located in California. I am dealing with Newport Lexus to no avail - what dealership are you working with?

Thanks for the info Mallory! If they screw up my car, they will be replacing what they tear up. I didn't pay this kind of money to let them tear up my new car.

Remember Mallory's fix is for SWB 460 and the L version would not require the glass work. It may not also need the insulation work but that remains to be seen.

I had my 460L wind noise fixed this week and with the Lexus regional engineer working on it too. All that was eventually done, after many hours of trial and error and road testing, was a replacement of the outside mirrrors with a much smaller drain hole and then they developed and installed special insulation around the puddle light at the bottom of each mirror. They found that the window leak "whistle" sound that I and they heard was coming from the imperfections in the original mirror assemply and was eliminated with these changes. In the brief amount of highway driving since then I concur that the wind leak/whistle noise is gone.

This was not the same as the prior mirror service bulletin as they devised the additional mirror insulation as well as changing out the mirror assembly and apparently took many pictures and notes of their process so it could be replicated again in other appropriate instances. I believe the window leak whistle that I had heard was similar to Luxo's noise although since he has the regular glass (SWB) his noise may have been even louder. The regional engineer may very well have been here in the Seattle area to also see and supervise the work on Luxo's car which presumably is getting the laminated glass installed as well. Will be interesting to get his report.

I am not sure there is yet a single approved fix for this as I sense Lexus is working through this, perhaps finding somewhat different situations with different cars, but the good news I see is that they are paying attention and doing something about it.

Well said, Mallory. I hope that they did in the end put everything back correctly, especially when you pointed out the things that were not correctly done!

Hopefully there is no blatantly obvious damage? I sometimes wonder whether the dealer repairs put together everything alright, is the fit and finish affected? Hopefully you can still enjoy your car!

I've got an update from my dealer today. Driver's side is done, according to them it's much quieter, no wind noise anymore and the mentioned insulation was added to the front pilar. I haven't seen the car yet so I can't tell if it has scratches or loose parts. They will work on the passenger side also, so at the end of this both windows will have been swapped and insulation added to the pilars. I trust those guys, it seems like Lexus Corp sent regional master techs to solve this problem and at the same time create a step by step document that will become a TSB. I will pick up my car on tuesday.

Default WInd noise

I put masking tape around my driver's side mirror (at both seams) and the wind noise continues. Passenger side does not have the noise. I'm going to do the hose trick to see if I can locate the source point. I could do a SPL test before tape and after tape but I could hear no obvious difference. Still incredible mileage: 30 mpg highway. I wonder if some drivers keep the car in PWR mode?
