2008 Mercedes C-Class (updated - running the streets of Philly - Page 13)
What could be better than a host of spy photos capturing the 2008 Mercedes C-Class being but through its paces in preparation for its world debut? The answer, of course, is a host of spy photos capturing the 2008 Mercedes C63 AMG being but through its paces in preparation for its world debut, and thanks to an astute reader by the name of Platon, that's exactly what we have for you this morning.
It turns out, the boys over at Car and Driver have captured what appears to be the newest C-Class, complete with quad exhaust pipes, new wheels, and a mesh grille... all tell-tale signs this isn't your typical 2008 Mercedes C-Class. The article goes on state that which most of us already assumed - that the 2008 Mercedes C63 AMG will likely be receiving the 503 horsepower naturally aspirated V8 we've all been lusting after.
Obviously details are still scarce at this time, but if we hear anything new, we'll be sure to let you know.

Test drive on the Speed Channel did a AMG episode (I can watch it over and over on in DEMand)
. The very last AMG model they tested on the track was the prototype CLK63 AMG. That car sounds ohh so good. Much more throaty than the current AMG V8's. It Sounds more like an AC Cobra from the 60's.

Seen here for the first time testing with less disguising than we’d snapped ever before is the new 2008 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Estate.
Expect official unveiling of the saloon at Geneva 2007 with sales starting shortly after – and the wagon to arrive some six months later in the autumn. Our sources state a cabriolet soft-top and coupe are also planned which we can only interpret as being the new CLK-Class which is also based on the same platform.
Although it will share more of its components than before with the larger E-Class, the next C will be much sharper to drive and more distinctive as a range in its own right: Mercedes-Benz is to position it as a true small sports saloon, rather than simply a smaller answer to the E.
Air suspension or active body control have been ruled out due to cost restraints. Base engine will be a direct injection 4-cylinder 1.8-litre with varying horsepower from 150 to 190. Horsepower for the 2.5- and 3.5-litre V6 will be 210 to 270 respectively.
AMG's 5.4-litre will be revised with new horsepower rating up from today's 360 to 400-410bhp to compete with the Audi RS4 and future BMW M3. Also a 3.0-litre diesel is planned as well as the new iDrive-like operating concept found in the new S-Class. 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system will also remain available as well.

Tired of your oh so boring 367-bhp C 55 AMG? Here’s hope: Mercedes’ new-generation C class will be available in C 63 AMG guise with the firm’s sophisticated 6.3-litre V8, capable of pumping a massive 520 bhp but likely to be tamed to around 400 to 420 bhp for the compact saloon.
That’s still in line with BMW’s new M3 and a plus in power of around 10 per cent over today’s model. We expect the new C 63 AMG break out just after the standard C’s launch in Frankfurt next year, so maybe at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show.
