No extra wiring harness needed. Just plug and play.

I installed the 01+ tails on my 98 and it took about five... ten minutes. Pluged into the existing connector and work

That is not quite correct.... the 01+ lights are plug and play, but only if you have the right plug to play with.

the 01+ taillights have a different 'pigtail' plug than what comes on the 98 -00 lights. I believe you can buy your taillights new both with and without that pigtail fron Lexus, and used sets sold definitely don't always come with 'em so you may need to get some (think around $23) or make them yourself.

The sets that our vendors sell (www.L-tunedparts.com and lexus-parts.com) have always come with the pigtail because they know what parts we need / what we're doing with them, but I've read of others that bought them from ebay or used orI believe even their local dealer that had to search down and order or make the pigtail.

Right click and save as here for a DIY on replacing the tail lights I have saved on my website.

http://www.somniplex.com/Dex/Dex%202...ght%20swap.pdf

Here's a picture of the backside of the two different style taillights that illustrates the differences in the pigtails (different number of bulbs, different locations). Comparison of old style lights to the new ones for wiring / bulb placement... the old style is the dirty one on the right with the wiring pigtail on it.
