Watch a 2JZ Lexus IS Smoke Its Tires

The Lexus IS is one of those cars that tuners love. Its front engine, rear wheel drive layout makes it the perfect choice for setting up to either handle or make tons of power. But why not both? In the case of the Lexus IS you see in the video below, that’s exactly what the owner wanted to do.

Here in Southern California, many of these once awesome machines have been slammed and had their camber increased to ludicrous levels. Thereby making them pretty much undriveable. Thankfully, the owner of this Lexus IS decided to make it the ultimate sleeper, and keep the camber and ride height. However, they did modify at least one part of the car: the engine.

Gone is the stock motor, and in its place is a 2JZ swap out of a Toyota Supra. The twin turbo motor can make massive amounts of horsepower, as seen from all the Formula Drifters that swap this motor into their S14s. Unfortunately, we’re not sure how much power this car makes, but if the smokey burnouts are any indication, this car makes well over the stock 325 horsepower that the 2JZ came with from the factory.
