How-To Tuesday: Locating the Secret Compartment in Your Lexus IS

Want to know a secret? Okay, but you have to promise not to tell anyone.

Now that we’ve got the Omerta policy in place, let’s get to the goods. Today’s How-To Tuesday article covers perhaps the cheapest, easiest, and least time-consuming DIY project of the bunch: locating the secret compartment in your 2005-2013 Lexus IS. It shouldn’t take more than a minute, and it won’t cost you a thing.

As far as materials go, all you need is a credit or gift card for prying purposes, a small cup, and something to hide. So for all you suspicious types, this should be even easier.

Now you just locate the center speaker on the top of the dashboard. Then you take your plastic card, and pop the speaker cover. It should come right off, nice and easy.

Take a look inside and you’ll see a perfect compartment area above the wires. Just place a cup in the hole, make sure it’s snug, and check to see that the top isn’t too long so that you can still close the cover.

That’s it. You’ve just created a compartment. As long as you always have a plastic card on you, you can always get into your secret stash. Now comes the hard part, which we can’t help you with: contraband procurement.
