Team Lexus Continues their Support of Schools in the Community
March 1, 2005
On February 23, Team Lexus went out into the community and visited a local elementary school in Baltimore Maryland. This visit was initiated by one of Team Lexus’ predominate local sponsors, Signs By Tomorrow |
Driver Chuck Goldsborough and some of the Team Lexus crew showed up at Dogwood Elementary with one of the famous racecars and spoke with the forth and fifth grade classes.
Throughout the afternoon the children of Dogwood Elementary learned the importance of math and teamwork in the racing industry. Over two hundred forth and fifth graders had a meet and greet session with Chuck Goldsborough and then moved outside to get a close look at the Team Lexus racecar with crew members Lee Hickey and Melissa Lockhart. While outside, students learned the safety precautions that Team Lexus applies to each of the racecars in order to keep their drivers safe while on the track. Also, the students learned how wind resistance and weight reduction are factors in making the Team Lexus racecar an exceedingly fast machine. At the end of the day the inquisitive students were able to ask questions and look inside of the orange racecar. Each class posed for a picture in front of the car and received a Team Lexus poster to take home. “As a highly visible partner of Lexus, we are regularly asked to represent Lexus at charity events, and school functions,” said driver Chuck Goldsborough. “This is a great opportunity for us to give back to the community, and in this case, make students aware of math and how they can apply classroom lessons later in life.” Credit: |
