Lexus Owner Has Car Stolen, Reacts Like a Champ
Police pursued the stolen Lexus through city streets at speeds exceeding 70 miles per hour. After running a red light at an intersection, LaFromboise struck a pickup truck, heavily damaging both vehicles and leaving the driver of the truck with a broken nose. The would-be thief then fled the trashed Lexus but was soon apprehended by police.
The last thing the suspect said he remembered was getting into a ‘nice Lexus.’ He now faces one count of car theft & another for fleeing a police officer.
Once in custody, a regretful LaFromboise confessed that he couldn’t remember much about what led to him being handcuffed in the back of a patrol car, but he did know that its was because he has nice taste in cars, even if he couldn’t afford one, let alone his own cigarettes. saying The last thing the suspect said he remembered was getting into a “nice Lexus” after trying to buy cigarettes at a SuperAmerica. He now faces one count of theft of a motor vehicle and another for fleeing a police officer.
It’s an especially disappointing turn of events for Turner for many reasons. Currently, the former leader with Black Lives Matter St. Paul serves as the director of community engagement for Minnesota Comeback, an organization devoted to giving kids like LaFromboise educational opportunities and keeping them from a life of crime. Clearly, this teenager could have used some time spent in that program.
Still, one bad apple won’t deter Turner from his mission of turning his community around. “The bigger issue is the obvious lack of economic opportunity that a lot of youth in our city continue to face,” says Turner. “…We have to do better as a city in providing economic opportunities for the youth or we will continue to leave our youth feeling hopeless.”
Turner sounds like a forgiving guy. We hope his auto insurance puts him back behind another Lexus real soon.
