RC F GT3 Nabs Best Finish Yet at Long Beach
3GT Racing’s #14 RC F GT3 scores a 6th place class finish in only its third race.
Following a pair of disappointing finishes, 3GT Racing was determined to break their slump at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. And they did exactly that as the #14 RC F GT3 scored a 6th place class finish, their best result of the young racing season. The vast improvement this weekend gives 3GT and Lexus a lot to look forward to in what is still a brand new car with a few bugs.
The #14 car, driven by Scott Pruett and Sage Karam, finished 18th overall with best lap time of 1:21:037. That, despite starting near the back of the pack in 32nd. The Riley Motorsports – Weathertech Racing Mercedes AMG GT3 took the checkered flag in the GTD class. Driven by Cooper MacNeil and Gunnar Jeanette, the AMG finished with a best lap of 1:20:257.
The #15 Lexus, driven by Robert Alon and Jack Hawksworth, posted a stellar best lap of 1:20:54. But they couldn’t match that pace throughout and finished 15th in class and 24th overall. Next up for the Lexus team is the Advance Auto Parts Sportscar Showdown at the Circuit of the Americas, which takes place May 5th-7th in Austin, Texas.
Thanks to 3GT’s awesome crew, great race today! No. 14 #LexusRCF GT3 in 6th, best finish yet. @lexusracingusa @IMSA @WeatherTech pic.twitter.com/pCqOx1OhHC
