2003 Lexus SC430

Slick convertible has enough power to make the crew from Fast & Furious envious.

After the launch of the Lexus brand, the Japanese automaker used the SC coupe to solidify its roles as one of the few brands that could manufactur something that was luxurious and sporty. But the automaker was missing something that allowed drivers to enjoy warm, sun-filled days – a convertible. Enter the second-gen Lexus SC, which is one of our favorite types of Lexus rides.

We recently spotted this gorgeous 2003 Lexus SC 430 online. It’s currently up for auction via Hemmings, where GR Auto Gallery in Grand Rapids, Mich., is offering the hardtop convertible for under $20k. This particular SC 430 caught our eye because of its unique color scheme, featuring Onyx Black on its exterior and a subtle but seriously cool mix of Ivory and beige interior accents. Another stand-out feature is the shiny chrome on the front grille, door handles and side mirrors.

The SC 430 had a long production run – from 2002 to 2010 – and was one of the first mass-produced cars to features a retractable-hardtop roof. Unlike the first-gen SC coupe, the SC 430 convertible only came with one engine choice, a 4.3-liter 32-valve V8 that churned out 300 horsepower and 325 lb-ft. of torque.

With the luxuriously appointed interior and powerful V8 engine, the SC 430 was the ideal vehicle to take on long journey across the country or for a spirited drive down a mountain road on a warm day. Ten-way power heated front seats, a Mark Levinson audio system, and an integrated navigation system make this Japanese beauty a bargain for drivers looking to experience the beginning of Lexus’ modern luxury.
