Lexus LX Makes an Unlikely but Awesome Drift Machine
Massive, top-heavy Lexus LX isn’t anybody’s first choice for a drifter. But judging by this video, maybe it should be.
Remember, years back, when SUVs were rolling over so often automakers had to start installing warning stickers on your visors? Of course, anybody with half a brain knows that top heavy vehicles don’t exactly make the best vessels for high-speed cornering maneuvers. But if you’ve got the skills, even a big old heavy ‘ute like the Lexus LX can be drifted. And the guy who does just that in this video from YouTuber Raul Villar certainly has skills.
Now obviously, this isn’t the sort of thing that anybody should do on a public road. As if we really need to tell you that. Regardless, nobody got hurt in this particular stunt, so we can simply marvel at how badass it is. It appears to take place somewhere in the Middle East, where we’re guessing (hoping) that the driver did it on purpose. At least, that’s what it looks like.
After passing a slow-moving truck in the left lane, our Lexus LX driver cuts the wheels a little too sharply to the left. They then overcorrect in an attempt to either look cool or avoid disaster. Either way, this sets up the most epic Lexus LX drift of all time. The massive SUV slides sideways for several hundred feet before swapping ends and eventually spinning to a halt.
The fact that this thing didn’t flip 50 times is pretty amazing. Whether we can credit that to the driver or Lexus’ inherent safety tech, who knows. But at least now we can answer that burning question that we’ve always wondered. Will a Lexus LX drift? Yes, yes it will.
