Lexus GS’ Safety Features Save Reviewer from Potential Crash

But that’s not the only reason why Texarkana Gazette loves the sedan.

The 2017 Lexus GS 200t is a culmination of everything that’s happening in the industry. And when the Texarkana Gazette got behind the luxury sedan, its reporter had nothing but good things to say about the car.

Despite being the least expensive GS model, the 200t is fitted with the Japanese automaker’s latest suite of safety features, which includes some semi-autonomous tech like automatic braking. WE know what you might be thinking: Self-driving features like automatic braking is a crutch that allows lazy drivers to yank their phones out while driving, which, of course, just isn’t true.

During the review, the GS 200t’s automatic braking system helped the reviewer avoid an accident when another driver in a hulking SUV pulled out into the wrong lane. We’ve all been there. Despite being fully aware of the situation, the reviewer found the sedan’s ability to forcefully apply the brakes to be “particularly fortuitous.” The GS 200t’s safety features, then, aren’t just there to make the sedan look better on paper.

‘If you want luxury, performance and peace of mind,
there’s no way to go wrong with a Lexus GS.’

The driver in the SUV continued to disobey the rules of the road by refusing to get into the turning lane, causing the reviewer to make an evasive maneuver. The GS 200t may be a luxury sedan, but it handled the task with poise.

“The nimble Lexus zipped through the maze with barely a hint of body lean,” writes the reviewer in the Texarkana Gazette. “It was more like a wiggle of her slender hips. Sweeet.”

Not only is the GS 200t a genius in the car world, it’s also agile when it needs to be. “To summarize, the Lexus GS rides like a luxury sedan, but when challenged, can be as nimble as a mathematician’s thoughts, both literally and figuratively.”

Power for the GS 200t comes from a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. That’s a tiny engine for a car that weighs roughly 3,800 pounds, but the engine does an impressive job. “Power delivery is smooth…” and has “quick take-off and strong acceleration at speed.”

The GS 200t is the do-it-all luxury sedan for the modern age. “There is great competition out there, but if you want luxury, performance and peace of mind, there’s no way to go wrong with a Lexus GS,” says the Texarkana Gazette. We could not agree more.
