Club Lexus Forum Members Discuss the LC F

Lexus Concept

Now that we know the Lexus LC F is real, there’s only one question left. What do fans of the brand think about it?

We’ve been sustained by nothing more than rumors for over a year now. But finally, the Lexus LC F broke cover recently as a preproduction mule was spotted testing in Germany. Now, the clock is officially running on Lexus’ latest supercar effort. And as you might imagine, the folks at Club Lexus have a lot to say about it. Especially in this particular thread, which has seen a ton of action in the days following the sighting of said Lexus LC F.

Even though it’s obviously a mule, there’s plenty to like about it, according to jwong77.

“Yeah, this looks like a really early prototype. But I love how far out that front fender flares. Imagine how aggressive that will look when they put in the appropriate tire size in there.”

TF109B agrees, and has some additional, similar observations.

“That front fender is a lot wider. The tires look skinny in there. The rear looks different too, like a small diffuser below the exhausts.”

Rumors suggest that the production Lexus LC F will use a twin-turbo V8. And arentz07 sounds pretty convinced that Lexus will stick with V8 power, at least.

“For the LC F, you know they won’t do less than a V8. If they do, I will be shocked given how stubborn they’ve been so far about keeping the 2UR-GSE alive.”

Of course, we can always dream about a return to V10 power.

“Which makes me think the LFA-esque V10 in the LC F would be pretty amazing. But I don’t think it would make any sense. Fuel economy and power probably wouldn’t match expectations for the class.”

The biggest worry most of our members, including RNM GS3 have? That the LC F will be far too expensive.

“This will be next F car. It will have TT V8 with over 600hp. Unfortunately, it will cost a LOT – base of around $150k. Really looking forward to it. Should be ready by late next year as 2020MY.”

If that’s the case, situman thinks it could be a deal breaker.

“At $150k, it will be DOA. At ‘only’ 600hp, it will be DOA. Lexus cannot play in that price range yet. The LC 500 is already overpriced by $20k. The LC F should be at the LC 500 price point to give the Germans something to sweat about. People that spend $150k will most definitely buy the badge and everything else is secondary or tertiary.”

But as john341 correctly points out, the Lexus LC F is pretty much in a different class than the competition.

“None of those cars you mentioned are in the same category. Sure they are faster and have cheap HP, but none of them are exclusive or have an immaculate design like the LC offers. We need to reserve judgment for later, as Lexus is trying to find the market where they can sell these cars, improve the brand cachet, and make profit at the same time.”

All of which sounds pretty reasonable to us. But still, we want to know what you think. So head over here and tell us what you think about the Lexus LC F, and let us know if you’ll be in the market for one when they finally arrive!
