A recent series of earthquakes in southwest Japan that have killed more than 40 people and injured more than 1,000 have caused Toyota to shut down a great deal of its vehicle production in the country.

The Lexus badge says a lot of things to buyers of the brand. Among other things, it announces, “This is a quality automobile that you can rely on for years of reliable service and luxurious travel.”

Well, that didn’t take long. In January, we got wind that Lexus was planning a hybrid version of its LC 500, which was an award-winning hit at the 2016 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Now comes this news.

The creation of the IS F wasn’t the first time Lexus put one of its V8s in a car smaller than the LS. Sure, they put one in the GS, but the oddity you see here, the 1994 Lexus Landau concept, is even shorter than that.
