BREAKING NEWS: New 2014 Lexus IS F SPORT Revealed

The feature photos are of an IS 250 F SPORT Ultra White with Rioja Leather Interior. Lexus made it clear that the new 3rd Generation IS would have a bold new look with LFA-like stylng. With a lot of hints coming from the LFA & LF-CC Concept Car, it appears they kept their promise and nailed it! Here are some observations of the new IS:

• Spindle Grille: One piece with no break point (Just like LF-CC)
• Front Headlamps: Dual Projector-type which could possibly be the first use of LED headlamps.
• DRL/Swoosh: The L shaped LED lamps are finally seperated from the headlamp assembly (Like LF-CC)
• Front Bumper: Strong, sculpted front fascia with brake cooling ducts contoured outside the spindle grille.
• Wheels: Split 5 Spoke Graphite (Like LFA)
• Foglamps: Where are they?!

Rear 3/4:

• Rear Taillamps: Are an evolutionary design from 2nd Gen IS which appear to be LED type with L shapes integrated into the lens (New LS). The strong body line from the taillamp into the rear rocker panels create a “sweep up” look, reminiscent of the rocker panels on the LFA and a winglet on an airplane wing.
• Rear Bumper: Dual Exhaust with large lower black valence. Look closely and you will see the vortex generators to help reduce aerodynamic drag.

Side:

• Doors: The rear door glass has a familiar “kick up” from previous generation IS models.
• Badging: Corporate F SPORT badge stays in a familiar place on the fender.
• Rocker Panels: Instead of a flat panel, a nice upswept winglet-look gives the new IS an LFA-like look.

The new IS interior is gorgeous. The interior is so nice, it’s hard to figure out where to start. The most notable change to the new IS interior is the leather & trim color. This IS F SPORT features a new Rioja Red leather trim which is reminicent of the 2013 GS F SPORT’s Cabernet leather interior. A new larger display graces the center dash cluster. We’re hoping this is the same high-res 12.3″ display unit from the GS. Remote Touch controller & Drive Mode Select buttons finally make their way to the center console. A Lexus first, an electrostatic switch operates the climate control. Dual cup holders are now unobstructed on the console. The interior is graced with a lot of nice contrasting silver aluminum trim as well as soft touch trim strategically placed where it counts!

The front seats look very inviting and comfortable. The optimum lower seat and steering wheel angle allows for the best driving feel. The nicely stitched leather outlines the large and supportive bolsters which will help with high speed cornering. The center armrest appears to be the same height as the armrests on the doors. The black headliner is retained for this IS F SPORT model.

Last but not least, the very high tech LCD TFT display from the Lexus LFA has made it”s home in the new IS F SPORT. With the center ring being the only mechanical moving part, the high resolution screen will display the most important information, faster than a conventional analog cluster.
