2019 Lexus ES F Sport vs. Hybrid Comparison
Choosing a 2019 Lexus ES trim may not be as easy as you think. At least, that’s what one Club Lexus member found out.
In the past, it might have seemed like a simple choice. Want a sporty car? Buy an F Sport. Need something that gets great gas mileage? Opt for the hybrid. But in today’s world, with the all-new 2019 Lexus ES, that decision may not be so simple. The hybrid offers up excellent performance and great fuel economy, while the F Sport gives you sporty styling and improved handling. Thus, it comes down to actually driving the two. Thankfully, Club Lexus member mikesrx350 did just that with both and shared his detailed thoughts on them right here in the forums.
First up, the 2019 Lexus ES F Sport. And it’s clear the OP enjoyed the way that car drives.
“Nice combo of ride quality vs handling balance. Similar ride quality to my wife’s 5-Series. Nice powertrain with the 8-speed and motor. Nicely calibrated. Great job with the power steering, an improvement over the last model year, but still too soft. Handling in the corners is very nice, great for a FWD car. Almost as good as a RWD platform, which is a big accomplishment. The car was quiet and the ride composed.”
Pretty promising, indeed. But with an all new interior and exterior, how does the 2019 Lexus ES F Sport hold up in terms of looks and comfort?
“Beautiful exterior and wheels. Having an arm rest on the left and right side is very nice for the driver. Not as good as the new LS, but close. F Sport seats are comfy and sporty at same time, maybe not for for long drives. The ventilated A/C in the seats is fantastic. The gauge cluster is nice. When I floored it, I was expecting a red layout but it was bright orange. Nice touch. The new map screen and interface are much improved over the last gen.”
Overall, the OP gives the 2019 Lexus ES F Sport an 8.75 out of 10. So how does the hybrid compare to that lofty standard?
“I was surprised how quiet the hybrid is versus the previous gen. Seats are 20 percent more comfortable and more cushioned, which is a huge plus for me. I will probably get a 54k ultra luxury version with the 14-way power seats Power is average and will disappoint if you’re an enthusiast. Otherwise, it’s a great powertrain. I was surprised how the gauges lit up red when you’re in sport setting, very nice. The ride was more composed than the F Sport, but both were excellent.”
And his overall verdict?
“The 2019 Lexus ES restores what the brand is all about in a lot of ways. Great value, great execution, and nice technology.”
