2018 Lexus LS F Sport Joins the Elite Euro Luxury Sedan Fleet
Praise is nothing new for the 2018 Lexus LS. But this might be the greatest praise a luxury sedan can get!
As you already know by now, the 2018 Lexus LS is an amazing car packing an amazing interior, incredible style, superior engineering, and unbeatable value. But it’s also light years beyond the outgoing model. A car, in fact, that finally seems poised to compete with its elite German competition. Everyone who’s driven the new LS to date has walked away more than impressed, including the good guys over at The Fast Lane Car.
TFLC journalist Arv Voss got the chance to spend some time in a 2018 Lexus LS F Sport recently. And it certainly left a lasting impression. Voss praised the car’s styling, which he says “blends bold expressive lines with a coupe-like profile.” He also appreciates the “low, dramatically sculpted hood” and “gracefully arched and sloping cabin roof.” And even the headlights and taillights are, as he says, “literally works of art that work.”
On the inside, Voss sums things up perfectly by noting that the threads exude “craftsmanship, comfort and cutting-edge design.” Amid the artistic woodwork and fabric patterns, you’ll find more legroom and a host of advanced, world-first safety systems. Voss does point out that pricing on the F Sport bases out at a reasonable $81,000. And yet, options could potentially push that figure over the $100,000 mark.
Sporting the same twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 as the regular Lexus LS, the F Sport has what Voss calls “unquestionably more than adequate” power. A true Jekyll and Hyde motor, the boosted V6 “delivers a pleasingly raucous note” but is also “relaxing and smooth.” Combine that with the F Sport’s “superb” driving dynamics, “solid, planted feel,” and “exceptional grip,” and you’ve got a recipe for a fantastic all-rounder.
One that’s good enough to represent a “worthwhile alternative to the European luxury sedan elite.” And that might just be the greatest compliment of all.
