MK5 Supra Transformed Into Boost Patrol Cop Car
A few reportedly legal modifications turn an ordinary Supra into something out of a Need For Speed game.
Barely Legal
Let's start by reminding everyone that modifying an ordinary vehicle to look like a cop car can be perceived as imitating a Police officer, which is a serious offense, punishable by huge fines and prison time. With that in mind, Youtuber TJ Hunt had to confirm with a lawyer that what he planned to do with the Supra was in fact legal.
Do Not Try at Home
The law prohibits the display of the word "Police" on any civilian vehicle and any badge needs to visually differ from that of the Police force. Still a risky move, though, as the Youtuber admits. “I do quickly want to say that I do not recommend anyone does this to their car. Before doing all this idea, I actually reached out to my lawyer and tried to do as much research online as I could because you can’t legally make your car into a cop car,” he added.
Easy to Reverse
The risk of legal trouble aside, this transformation is actually rather simple, with all the modifications easily reversible. “The first thing I did is I went online and tried to find the most expensive real cop car lights I could. The second thing I ordered was sirens and a PA system. Every cop has a PA system in their car,” TJ remarked.
Whimsical
Then, it was time to give the Supra the color scheme of a cop car. This part was quite simple, as well. The car already featured black paint. All that was needed was to wrap the roof and doors in white and add in the not-so-serious badging.
Staying Above the Radar
Boost Patrol is set to be released onto the streets, serving the public in matters involving injustices of forced induction! Hunt's new Supra cop car look-alike looks like a realization of a Need For Speed-based dream. And it's sure to grab the attention of all passers-by. And that could potentially include real law enforcement, as well. So we wish him luck in his quest to not get pulled over!
