1. Engine and Transmission

The 2016 Lexus NX 200t is equipped with a forced air, turbocharged 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine capable of cranking out 235 hp and 258 lb/ft of torque. The premium-grade gasoline engine offers 26 miles per gallon on average, and is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission that enables manual capabilities through steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.

2. Safety

The NX 200t has safety features including ventilated front/solid rear disc brakes, emergency braking assistance, traction/stability control, 4-wheel anti-lock brake protection, a pre-collision safety system, and side/head airbags. These features come together to garnish the car with an overall five-star safety crash rating.

3. Exterior Details

The 2016 NX 200t is, of course, a five-door hatchback, and comes with standard FWD or optional AWD. It's roughly the size of an Audi Q5 or BMW X3. Think of it more as a sporty sedan than a traditional SUV from Lexus. The 18-inch F Sport wheels certainly help conjure that image.

4. Interior Finishes

The base trim model interior looks similar to the one found in the Lexus IS. The NX is, of course, equipped with the Lexus Remote Touch Interface, which is essentially a screen mounted on top of the dash paired with a touchpad control center. Another awesome feature is the built-in phone mount that primarily serves as a wireless charging station. The seats are luxuriously fitted with NuLuxe premium vinyl trim. If you opt for the F Sport trim package, you'll see a special gauge cluster display instead.

5. Trim Packages

If you're looking at buying an NX 200t, then you'll need to decide between two trims. With the base trim, you can configure luxury options, but with the F Sport trim, you'll get the more aggressive spindle grill as well as sport seats that are not ventilated.

6. Space

Taller drivers may not be the most comfortable in the 2016 NX 200t due to a lack of ample knee room. Rear passenger seating is a tad more generous, capable of carrying three adults just fine. As it stands in its natural form, there's 17.7 cubic feet of storage, and at maximum, you'll utilize 55 cubic feet overall thanks in part to its "fast back" roofline that's much less boxy. The NX 200t's hauling capacity is 2,000 lbs; again, keep in mind that this is more of a sedan than a larger SUV like the RX!

7. Pricing

The 2016 NX 200t is moderately priced for a car that's a luxurious sedan/SUV crossover, beginning at $35,000. You'll spend thousands less than if you had chosen an Audi, BMW, or Mercedes-Benz counterpart. If you want the fully-equipped model with F Sport luxury trim, advanced electronic safety features, and on-board navigation, then you can expect to pay up to $44,000, which is still a great value considering its competitor pricing.
