1. Most Expensive Lexus' to Insure

A lot of factors go into determining insurance rates. The cost of replacement parts and frequency of claims are chief among them. It can be a confusing process, but thankfully insure.com has a great interactive tool that allows you to compare average insurance rates between different models. They also publish an annual top ten list highlighting the most and least expensive cars to insure. It's a great tool for anyone who is thinking about buying a new or used car.

2. GS 450H

The GS 450H is Lexus' hybrid version of their popular mid-size luxury sedan. With a base price north of $60,000 and a complex hybrid system, it's really no surprise that it ranks as the 7th most expensive Lexus to insure. If you're in the market for a GS 450H, expect to pony up around $2,212 per year, which is the current nationwide annual average.

3. LS 460 RWD

The full-size LS 460 with rear wheel drive is a big sedan packed with technological features. It's also expensive, with a base price over $70,000, and powerful, with either 360 or 386 horsepower even in base guise. Those factors all lead up to a rather expensive annual insurance cost of $2,293, which is good enough to make it the sixth highest Lexus model to insure.

4. RC F

It should surprise no one that the RC F makes the cut as the fifth most expensive Lexus to insure. The luxury sports coupe pumps out 467 horsepower and 389 lb-ft of torque, making it sort of like a cheetah in a fine suit. Add in a base price north of $60,000, and you've got a perfect recipe for an expensive insurance bill. Average annual costs for the RC F currently stand at $2,316.

5. LS 460 AWD/LS 460 L

Spots 2-4 on our most expensive Lexus to insure list belong to what is essentially one car - the LS 460 and LS 460 L. The difference in prices depends on which model you buy. If you opt for the LS 460 with all-wheel drive, you'll surprisingly pay $2,329 per year - $36 more than the RWD version. Stepping up to the long wheelbase LS 460 L in rear wheel drive will cost you $2,351 per year. And if you want the all-wheel drive version of the executive ride, expect to pay upwards of $2,478 annually.

6. LS 600H L

The "winner" of this year's most expensive Lexus to insure contest is not exactly what you would call a supercar. Rather, it's Lexus' heavy (5,115 pounds), expensive ($120k+), and hybrid powered LS 600H L. The long-wheelbase executive version of the already big LS 600 checks all the rest of the boxes for increased insurance costs, however. Equally expensive to buy and repair, this luxury liner will set you back $2,930 per year in average insurance costs.
