Lexus RX: Body Kit Reviews

Body kits are designed to completely change the looks of a Lexus RX. Here's a review of some of the most popular kits.

This article applies to the Lexus RX (2005-2013).

A body kit is a modification that completely changes the look of a Lexus. Body kits can transform even the most boring looking ride into something that might be mistaken for a car that belongs on the race track or in a show. No matter which body kit you choose, you are bound to turn heads and most certainly won't blend in at the mall's parking lot anymore. With so many options available from a healthy aftermarket, which one should you choose? This review compares five of the most popular body kit options for the Lexus RX to help you decide which one is best for you. All of these kits can be found and purchased online.

Wald

Material - Carbon Fiber

Direct Fitment - Yes

Construction - FRP (Fiber re-enforced polymer)

Painted - No

Looks, as they say, are a very subjective thing, but Wald makes a fine looking body kit that is very much admired within the online community. The biggest complaint that some have is that the results in real life don't quite match up to the example that makes its rounds at shows. If you decide to go with a Wald kit, just make sure you are prepared to make modifications for a proper fit, or have a reputable body shop do it for you as it could get complicated. However, they are known to look smooth and flow well with the body lines. Recommended if you're looking for a decent kit without spending too much money.

Rojam

Price - $21,000

Material - Carbon Fiber

Direct Fitment - Yes

Construction - FRP (Fiber re-enforced polymer)

Painted - Yes

The Rojam body kit is a bit "cleaner" in appearance than the busy-looking Wald, and you won't be looking at great clearance between the tires and fender wells, unless you go with a bigger tire size. But that front bumper lip is a huge improvement over the stock look and completes what many feel is an incomplete look coming straight from the factory. Overall, the Rojam is one of the cleaner looking body kits available. Recommended if you are looking for a clean-looking kit.

TOM's

Price - $1,550

Material - Fiberglass

Direct Fitment - Yes

Construction - FRP (Fiber re-enforced polymer)

Painted - No

Many like the look of the rear of the Tom's body kit, but feel that the front is not aggressive enough. However, it's a clean look overall, and one that won't get you mistaken for the kid racer down the street. Tom's would be a great choice for someone who wants to change the look of their RX but doesn't want to go too crazy in the process. The only problem is that these kits are rather hard to find. Recommended if you are looking for a small change in looks.

LX Mode

Price - $25,750

Material - ABS

Direct Fitment - Yes

Construction - FRP (Fiber re-enforced polymer)

Painted - Yes

The LX Mode body kit adds a bit more of a luxurious look to the RX, one that better fits its body lines. Obviously, however, the side trim could create problems if you drive on rough or bumpy roads since it hangs so low. The front lip is a big improvement over the stock look that has the RX looking like something is missing. Recommended if you are looking for a sporty, low look.

Branew

Price - $23,500

Material - ABS

Direct Fitment - Yes

Construction - FRP (Fiber re-enforced polymer)

Painted - Yes

Branew body kits are a bit busy. The add-on LED lighting in the lower front bumper is a bit out of place and there are simply too many layers going on with it. The rectangular LED lights look like they belong on an Audi, and are a strange fit for angular headlights of the RX. One additional layer would suffice on the front bumper, but there are four or five going on here. With that said, it is a popular, quality kit, but it doesn't have a huge fan base, especially because of the hefty price tag that comes with it. Recommended if you are looking for a busy, completely different look.
