This article applies to the Lexus IS (2005-2013).

There are so many lights on the Lexus IS that it can be hard to know what kind of bulb is needed when one goes out. Knowing the type of bulb and the wattage required makes fixing blown bulbs a far less stressful (and less expensive) option. The table below contains an organized list of the type of bulbs in a typical Lexus IS, along with their necessary wattage.

Exterior Bulbs

The only real variation in exterior lighting on the Lexus IS is in the headlights. Halogens, Bi-xenon, and even LED bulbs are available. They are not, however, interchangeable. Lexus models with halogen headlights will need two different bulbs for the high and low beams. Cars equipped with HID's only need the one bulb.

Wedge Based Bulbs

The interior lights of are almost entirely wedge based bulbs. The lights from factory are normal units with filaments, but they can be exchanged for LEDs like the ones below. LEDs are brighter and have and extremely long life. The numbering for the bulbs is interchangable between LED and halogen, but the the type of bulb required is more complicated. LED's provide light in one direction unlike a typical light bulb. They compensate for that limitation by coming in a variety of different styles.
