I bought a pair of 225/35/20 Yokohama S. Drive's to mount on my wheels and the tires did not stretch at all to my surprise.

From looking at pictures, I was hoping they would stretch slightly, (curved in sidewall is the look I was going for) and I didn't achieve that with my Yoko's.

I have considered going to a 225/30/20, hoping that this will work. Any brand of tire you recommend?

Rears are 20x11 and I got 255/35/20 and same thing happened. No stretch.

I would like to have the same front and rear branded tires.

So now I'm considering 225/30/20 and 245/35/20. Thoughts on a brand?

what was the problem. the tires plain wouldn't mount, or once mounted it just didn't look like what you wanted it to?

i am running 225x35x20 nitto 555 on a 9.5" and it is a decent stretch and looks good for my fronts. but i don't think i would run any more stretch with the conditions/speed that i drive.

i am running a 265x30x20 general exclaim on an 11" rear and it is a slight stretch and looks good to me as well, for my rears.

obviously some tires stretch better than others. i've had 245x35x20 on a 10" and it was a slight stretch and looked good with nitto 555 as well. maybe a 255x35x20 or 265x30x20 on your 11" would be good just gotta get a tire that is a known good one for stretching. i personally don't have any experience with yokohama s drive's sorry.

You should run a 225/35 and 255/30


I'm running 255/30 on 11" on Hankook V12's and they definitely stretch.. not extreme but good enough.



For your front I would still recommend the 225/35 I'm running on a 9" and they barely stretch but its pretty much as narrow as they get in 20". You can go 225/30 which will stretch a bit more but the sidewall is SUPER thin and would probably bubble going over the first bump you hit being that the load range is only 85 which is way to low for our vehicles

Are you sure your wheels are 10 & 11? Maybe it's 9 & 10?

Yea tire sizes can run big/small from brand to brand and even model to model. I wish there was a way to determine that before buying them. I know for a fact the Delinte D7 stretches since I've had them, but it's a cheap tire. I heard the Falken FK-452 stretches good but I never had them.

Might have to visit a local wheel shop and compare the sizes yourself.

I'm running Sumitomo HTRZ III's. I think they run a bit narrow, so I'm going to be running larger sizes all around with my next setup. Anyway, here are some pictures for reference:

225/35 on a 9.5 (my fronts are 19s, so this is just for visual sake



255/30 on my 20x11 rears (I ran these for about a week before changing... too stretched for me)



275/30 on the same 20x11. These were good although still noticeably stretched.



Sorry I don't have better pictures, but I hope helps. Like LexRuger said, tire sizes run different from brand to brand.

I'm sure they are 10 and 11. I'm pretty sure Avant Garde wouldn't lie to me about my build. I'm aware that some tires run true to size, and others are narrow while others are fat, (stiff sidewalls, soft sidewalls, rounded out sidewalls, etc.)

Northstyle, the Sumitomo 9.5 on your front wheel is the perfect amount of stretch that I was looking for. However, I didn't get that. The sidewall did not cave in like yours did with my Yokohama S. Drive's.

That's exactly what I would prefer to run, 225/35/20 for the fronts and 255/30/20 for the rears, but there aren't too many tire brands that make 255/30 and I would like to run the same brand of tire on all 4 corners.

i don't think it's necessary to run the same brand. i did for my first few years and now i haven't for the last few and i haven't noticed any difference

reason i switched up the brands is cuz rear was hard to find the size i wanted and when i was just going through testing out different sizes/setups i went cheap until i was satisfied with the look and feel for my rear. now when it is time to switch them out i may get something better. but these damn general exclaims just won't get old or show any signs of wear,,, yet

@YakG that setup looks nice, but hardly looks like a 255x30 on an 11" to me since those hankook v12's look only mildly stretched on that wheel.

i've never ran those tires before but may next time on account of how good it looks. got any more pics of that rear wheel from any different angles so i can see how much the lip is sticking out past the tire, thanks.

Hankook stretches great so do the Accelera Phi

I am using a

235/35 on the front 10.5 Accelera Phi
245/35 on the rear 10.5 Hankook V4

What about Achilles ATR Sport?

I lost on shipping both ways when I returned my Yokohama S. Drives to TireRack and before I continue with ordering a solid set of tires, I'm gonna go cheap first to see how it works.

225/35/20 Achilles ATR Sport on 20x10. Really would prefer not to do 225/30 because of the load index.

245/35/20 Achilles ATR Sport on 20x11

Thoughts?

Been to www.tyrestretch.com, www.rimtuck.com, vipstylecars thread on consolidated stretches. From looking at pictures online, I saw stretches of the Yokohama's. Unfortunately for me, it didn't come out like that.

Achilles stretch very well.

I just like using the Accelera tire their good all around and pricing is killer !
