Are there certain brand tires that take to stretching better then others ? I remember reading somewhere that some tires have a little built in protection area to protect the exposed wheel. Is stretching a 30 a bad idea ? Would it be safer to stretch a 35 instead ? I am thinking about doing a 10.5 inch rear wheel with a 275/30/20 on it. The wheel is Vossen 084 and its 20x9 ET35 and 20x10.5 ET42. I understand it will only be a very slight stretch.

And I know these offsets are not quite up to VIP standards but I am not looking for a very aggressive setup right now. This wheel and tire setup will be going on an LS430 . I am not sure if I am gonna keep factory air or do aftermarket air. I am still thinking bout that. But there is a good chance I will go to aftermarket air at some point. Would nitto 555's be a decent choice ? The place that has a good deal on these wheels does not have any hankook or Falken in any of the sizes I am interested in but they do have the nitto 555. The tires would be 900 dollars mounted and balanced on the wheels. Please offer up some advice , thanks everyone .

if you gonna do 275/30 on 10.5, I wouldn't worry. Any kind of tire should work just fine.....I used 255/30 on 10.5 with Toyo, I have no issues....

255/30/20 is the standard normal for the rears. give a small stretch and good wear

Certain brands are better to stretch than others. Back in my stretched tire days, I had no issues with Falken, Hankook, Achillies, and surprisingly Nexen is the easiest to stretch. Some have thicker sidewalls than others

a 275 tire however isnt gonna be much of a strech on a 10.5" wheel it will look like this pic below. This is a mild stretch if any at all. If you want more of a stretch go for a 255

yes i most certainly think some tires stretch better than others. i had horrible results with a 255/35 toyo proxes on a 10.5

tires i've had success stretching personally are nitto 555 extremes (whoa whatch out they are extreme ) , general exclaim, and the cheap *** chinese tires nankang...

i've done 245/35 on a 10.5 and it was stretched. presently front i have a 225x35 on a 9.5 and rear a 265/30 on a 11"
