If you are lossing a good amount of air then the compressor will continuously all the time you did not here the air leaking out at all before? The relay failure can be stuck on if there is a spike in power or loss in power when the system is on. The relay arks a little when it switch on and off so it can weld itself together. Good luck hope you get this fixed.

yeah possibly or probably. but now the power lines have been beefed up (fuse too), and a new pressure switch installed. waiting on the tank to show up in the mail (been slow lately)...

the compressor and the tank are right next to each other. couldn't hear the leak over the sound of the compressor i guess. you can definitely feel the air rushing out as the compressor is/was pumping air into the tank though.

new tank on the way, new pressure switch already installed, should hopefully be a smooth fix.
