in my particular phantom air cup kit. the phantom stock check valve (that was leaking air back into the compressor apparently) connected between the tank and the IN steal braded hose line (that leaves the compressor and goes into the tank). i just replaced the new SMC check valve with the stock one and problem solved...
NOTE!!!
in my case the SMC check valve was 1/4 female connections on both ends. my stock phantom check valve was female in and male out so i had to get a small piece of 1/4 pipe with male ends on each end to screw in between the tank and the new smc check valve.

When looking at complete air suspension kits, does it replace your stock suspension? I've seen some people sleeve their coilovers with bags and its kind of confusing.

2. the ones you are describing is a bag coilovers set up Using UAS sleeve bags, cup kits also look similar to this. if you have anymore question feel free to ask. The simpler the kit along with direct replacement is the best way to go, but it does cost more than the sleeve bags and coilovers setups

If you are running AZ compressors you wouldn't need any check valves because the one that come with those compressors are pretty well made. However if you still want to add them for peace of mind it's best to do it between water trap and tank. I also would add one between the tank and the valve because it'll stop any back flow if you have a leak in the tank.

The order should always be.
Compressor > Braided hose > Check Valve > Air Tank > Water trap > VU4/Solenoids Valves > Air bags
The there is no reason to have a water trap between the compressor and tank. The water traps are supposed to protect moisture going to the VU4 manifold.
Here's a installation diagram from Accuair. I'll post up a photo of my setup when I got time later today.
