I dont know about you laws over there but where I live it's illegal to cut factory springs.
If I was you I would be looking at getting a set of lowered springs.
If you wanted to go lower still you could compress and shorten the shocks.

What you need to do is save up and do it right the first time with a set of coilovers. If that type of wheel style is what you're looking for, you can save up a bit more and get a similar style made by a better company...new or used. It's up to you if you want to "mickey mouse" your car on a tight budget or be more patient, save up, and get it done properly.

Why/how did you throw the rear view of your LS400?

Compressed springs would make for a bouncy ride.
You will still even get that off coilovers but to what extent will depend on what type/brand you buy.

coilovers, 650-1100.
airbags or hydraulics, 1800-4000
