As you can see the rust is pretty much on the weld areas not the actual tank i guess

rust is not such a problem in the tank . It is an issue on the valves as it will cause them to leak.

Usually, its recommended to drain it (let all the air out) after use. I have a 30gal craftsman here that I've owned for hhmmm 12+ years and still running strong.

depends on the valves you have to open them in order to clean them .
The reason I bought easy streets aluminum manifold is because it is a self contained unit , can't rust and has hardened plastic caps over the valves to prevent issues .

Replace the tank with an aluminum one and you won't have to worry about rust ever again. And seeing as an aluminum tank is less than $100 its a very worthwhile investment.

ive asked this a few times but whats a good way to drain the tank? my drain port is located in the back of the tank and i dont really have room to catch the water... so itll spray all over the place :/ i was thnking.. what if i run a air hose + a air gun (the ones that air tools) on the drain port n when i need to drain ill just release it there?

safe or no?

vwynn, I had the same rust/water issue in my airtank. I bought a release valve to attach to the bottom of the tank. It has a threaded body that you just unscrew and the air releases. Get a hose to fit over this type of release valve. Run the hose down one of those spare tire rubber drain plug things. You could grab the hose twist and drain air/water without messing up your car. Guess this all depends on how you mount your tank. If you show up to the Auto Fashion VIP car show I can give you the plug. I can give you the attachments to enable airhose hook-up to your tank as well. I no longer use a tank for my airbag set up so I do not need these attachments anymore.

You need to replace the tank.
I just switched from the supplied D2Racing tank & valves to a manifold & new aluminum tank.
The valve filters inside were caked with rust. That rust is going to mess up your valves in the long term.

who makes a good AL tank?

i was lookin at UAS tanks but the problem i have with them is that they do not have a lot of ports like the Ksport tank.

heres my tank setup so far.. not installed yet but yea... pretty much after im done there will only be 1 port left for use out of.. 8 ports (+1 drain port)
