Sumitomo is a Japanese manufacture of many things and tires happens to be one of them.

The reason you don't hear about them is the reason they aren't priced with comparable brands They put -0- money into marketing. You wont find Sumitomo on the side of a race car or sponsoring a team of any sort. They let us do the marketing as we are a sole importer for most Sumitomo tires in North America.

For a summer tire, the Sumitomo HTR ZII and the ZIII are actually really good. They have very good street capability.

They also just introduced the HTR Enhance, which I anticipate will be a top performer. Unfortunately, we will not be able to test it this year.

The only Sumitomo tire I can't really jump for joy about is the Touring LS-T. If you live in a climate where wet weather traction is at all a concern, stay away from that tire! In our test results found here, we actually determined that the wet and snow traction are inadequate.

The Sumitomo HTR ZIII would be a good choice.

I would second that. I ran those on my 2011 WRX for a couple of summers. They were a solid performer but they required really warm weather as they got really hard once temperatures dipped in the 50s.. I live in Chicago, so I assume you wont have that problem.
