Removing Busted Wheel Lock?

Removing Busted Wheel Lock?
Well i ran into a problem last week where my McGard key lock snapped off in my McGard locking lug. At this point I have no idea on how to try and remove this. A wheel shop I use tried to use a smaller socket to get on the locking lug (which is round so its hard to really get a grip of) and get it off. That did not work. My buddys body shop tried to use 2 different lug nut extractors and neither worked. The key is broke off flush to the lug so its almost impossible to try and remove the excess piece with a pair of needle nose plyers. Has anyone had a similiar problem and what did you use to remove it? I would like to change my brakes but this set back has become a real pita.

I would call McGard and see if they have any suggestions for starters.
If you have questions, call McGard Customer Service Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm Eastern time, 800-444-5847.
I had a similar thing happen years ago and my friend Jorge, who is a mechanic, spent a long time resolving the issue for me. He drilled the wheel stud down to just under the bottom of the lock and it came off. Then, he replaced the stud. It was a real PITA.

you have a couple options - seems like you have tried the most obvious, but, possibly, it was too tight to start with and you just can't get enough grip on it...
my next option would be to try and extract the broken piece of wheel lock - start by drilling with a special metal drill bit and then using an extractor... hopefully that will give you enough bite to pull out the piece... if that doesn't work, you are going to need to do as link suggested and that is to drill the whole thing until you get into the wheel stud and then it will fall or break off...
I have always suggested using wheel lock keys that engage on the outside of the lug instead of inside - if the locking key breaks, you just buy a new one and all is well...

Look in your car and get the McGard phone number and key number call them up they will make a new key and send it to you. We just did that here several days ago and had a new key in couple of days.

Anti-theft lug nut key damaged!
Hi. I bought a 99 Lexus LS400 and need new tires mounted. However, the anti-theft lug nut key is damaged. I've been to a couple wheel & tire specialists, but they don't have this type of key. The rims are ZNX and the key is a 9 spline locking wheel key with the number 463 stamped on one end.
Am hoping someone might be familiar with ZNX rims and can help me. I posted pics of my tires and the key.
Please help!
