The 16s are 16x7.5.
The 17s are 17x8.

The biggest tire I'd comfortably put on the 16s are 235s but 225s would be good..

With my stock rims 16X7.5 (50mm offset)...I ran 245/50 16 Pirelli PZero Nero M&S last year.

The fit was perfect, no rubbing, event at full turns (I am lowered 1.5 by the L-Tuned Springs/Shocks). This gave the car a Fatter look all around. The Lexus ride was still there.
the car felt quicker as well because of the shorter overall diameter + 245 footprint.

Chicago winters have me running 225/55 16 Dunlop Winter Sport M3s and the look is back to the "regular guy" look.

245/50 will fit with no problem. + sweet look...

well if you talk about performance, if you can get some wider rims with wider tires it's only going to help

Since KRGS4 did it on his, apprently it will "fit". I would not do it since the rim width and tire width has a bigger diference than I'd like. Ultimately, it is your car so you can make the call.

As for 215/40? Why that size? It will make the wheel outside diameter too small compare to the OEM 215/60. I really don't see any benefit other than you are going to be lowered a little but that is not the best way to do it.

Default haha

hmm seems like the ones with less height have faster speed rating

yea, i dont want any lower, im already too low haha
but if thinner is more performance its seems more worth it no?

More performance, worse ride.

Anyway, if you are planning on OEM 16, I'd stay with 225/55 or if you want to push it 235/50 (although this is not optimal). If you want to play on the wild side, then 245/50 like KRGS4. The 245/50 is actually a better size in terms of diameter. It is closer to OEM spec but on a 7.5 rim, I'd be hesitant to put it on.

At the end of the day, though, it is your car and your call.

The 40 series is more performance oriented but in order to effectively run that size, you really need to be running 18s.

Sorry about reviving an old thread, but I would really need some bigger tires than my 225 bf goodrich tires and wanted to go to 245. Would I rub at full lock without spacers?
