Default To those of you who have gone from 18" to 19"

Well I had my mind set and placed my order for new rims in 18". Since then I've had this little Gremlin talking to me about changing it to 19".

How much difference have you really noticed between them?

Appreciate the feedback!

DT

I don't think 19s will fit on an AMC Gremlin.

I would def go for the 19s or even 20s ( ) . If you go 19, you can do a fat tire setup to preserve the ride. I know a member that has 19 fat setup and he commutes about 130-150 miles a day no issues. His name is jbbnet, if you want to PM him.

Take D's advice. I was all set to get 18" wheels and he persuaded me out of them. I went with the 19" and have not looked back yet. I have really not lost any ride quality and I am still on stock suspension (4 x 4 I know) But the increase with traction is definitely noticeable.

I've dropped mine with Eibach springs so I don't know how much that would effect the ride with 19's but other things come into play such as brakes and performance loss!

What about 18s and brake issues. Are 18s the cutoff, or is a brake upgrade needed for them also.

i have 19's on the fat setup....... the standard setup is kinda rough. you really feel the road. I'm going to be getting another set up tires in the spring and it will be the same sizes. Def worth it.
by the way, i'm running on stock 16's right now (winter is coming) and it's soooooooooo smooth.

We can put a guy on the moon and we can't get a 19" rim to ride like a 16". What's with that?
