Wheels, Tires & Brakes Forum Where else do you go for wheel, tire and brake information?

Is this supposed to happen?

Default Is this supposed to happen?

This problem happens only when I make turns or U turns with my steering wheel turned all the way to either right or left: When my car turns, I can feel the front tires screeching/losing balance and I would either have to stop the car or turn the steering wheel slightly toward the other way to correct this problem.

I understand that this would happen if I mesh the throttle while making turns with my steering wheel turned all the way to either right or left. However, this also happens to my car even when I go very slowly (with my foot on the brake pedal and tranny in D).

Does anyone know if it's normal for SC4s to do this?

I've looked at my tires and didn't find any unusual wear or tear on them.

I currently have 16 inch GS3 wheels and 225/60/16 tires on my car.

Thanks.

Jon

How old are your tires?

I think they're relatively new (3 years old?) and have at least half of the treads left.

They do not have other problems other than when I make turns.

Hmmm... weird...

It has to be your tires. Check your pressure and go by what the sidewall or owners manual says.

Check the air pressure in your tires and make sure they are up to what the reccomended tire pressure is on the sidewall.

If it isn't the tires you may be hearing the power steering pump?

may be that you are using a different tire size 225/60 instead of 225/55

Thanks a lot guys.

I think it's probably my tires. My power steering pump was replaced 30k miles ago so I don't think that's the cause of it.

The funny thing is, it's the only problem that these tires have on my car. I absolutely have no other problems with these tires whatsoever. They ride fine and are generally very comfortable.
