Smile Run Flats can be fixed

Just got back from the dealership I kept getting that blinking light tire sensor that wouldn't stop beeping at me. Found out there was a nail in it and they were able to repair it. 13 dollars !!! I was so relieved I expected to pay 400 dollars for a new tire. So for all you people who hear they can't be repaired they can..

Bridgestone will tell you that they should never be patched or plugged... ...maybe you'll be o.k. but I'd be worried about failure myself... My dealer refuses to patch or plug any run flat for insurance reasons since the MFGR says they are not plug or patchable.

Basically, if you have a blow out now with that tire, you get to sue your dealer for plugging a tire that should never have been plugged...

Had two of mine repaired from nail punctures when I had the RFs. Those RFs are nail magnets.

Default plugging RFTs

i had a nail in mine last week. sensor went off.
i pulled the nail out and plugged it, like I do with all my other tires when they get a nail....
it's been fine, so far....

Are your tires wearing out on the inner treads on the front???

I think Phu is right... these things ARE nail magnets! I replaced my Bridgestone Runflats with Michelin Pilot Sports a few months ago, and when they gave me the runflats back one of them had TWO nails in the tread. Don't have any idea how long they'd been there but my sensors never indicated a problem.

Not that we don't all get flats occasionally, but it's surprising to see so many of us that have had nails in the runflat tires.

mine have been nail free.. but I've gotten nails in other tires (normal) before.... One year I got 3 nails within 2 weeks... IN THE SAME TIRE! ...just unlucky sometimes..

I honestly don't thing the run flats are any more or less prone to nails IMHO

I'm sure you're right. It's just coincidental.

I also fix a nail from one of RFT when my car was about 3k miles. now I have 16k miles and the tire still works fine like the other 3.
