yeah..
it went all the way through...I'm going to end up having to buy a new one anyways. I don'think I'd have piece of mind rolling around on something with a gash like that.

Well I went to Discount Tire and they said it coudn't be repaired because it was a gash and not a puncture.
Has anybody here had experience with their tire(s) being patched??
I definitely don't want to spend near $300 bucks for a new tire.

My 2 cents here, for what they are worth. I wouldn't patch that if it was even my own tire, the puncture is too wide and when you factor in crap getting to the patched area as well as expansion of the tire as it gets hot, that patch will eventually just go. If it was just a puncture such as a nail then patch it, as I am riding on a patched tire for over 5K miles, no prob at all, but it was only a nail, not a deep gash that is as wide as that. For your safety, just get a new tire would be my opinion. Good luck on whatever you do.
