Default 94-96' GS Chrome wheels, should I do it?

Help.

I really want to change my current 10 spoke chrome 16' rims on my car but I do not have any money at this point for a set of new rims/tires. Even if I had the money, I probably would not go over anything that's more than 16's because my SC4 is a daily driver and I want to get the maximum comfort out of this car.

Here comes my dilemma. I may be able to do a straight trade with a local guy who has a 7 spoke 16' chrome rims from his 1st Gen. GS300. I think these rims look pretty much like the newer SC4s (95-96 ones at least) and should make my car look a bit more updated, especially given the fact that I've just done a 96' taillight swap.

What do you all think? Does anyone know the size of these GS300 rims? Do these rims and my current ones have the same size/offset? I tried searching on the 1st Gen GS300 forum but I couldn't come up with anything.

Assuming it's a straight up trade, would you guys do it?

Here's a pix of my car with my current rims:

And here's a link to a GS300 with these rims:

Any idea?

Thanks!

Jon

I'd stay with what you got if it was me. It basically just depends on personal preference if the wheels are in equal condition.

Why do you want to swap a 16" for another 16" wheels? I would go for the GS400 17" wheels.
Actually I'm looking for someone I know who would trade their 17" for my 16".

Thanks guys.

SC400: Well the reasons why I am considering these wheels are pretty simple:

1. I don't have any additional budget that would allow me to purchase the 17' wheels/tires. If if I did, it wouldn't have made sense for me to spend extra money on my daily driver.

2. I do not want to sacrifice any comfortness that the SC4 offers by going with anything larger than 16 inch wheels.

3. In my opinion, 16' inch wheels look good enough on SCs.

4. I only wanted to go with something that is easier for me to clean/maintain than the 10 spoke chrome wheels I have.

Make sense?

By the way, what kind of 16' inch wheels/tires do you have? Are they chrome? Maybe I'll also consider yours if I like them.

I like your wheels better. Thanks again for the links for the tail lights I finally made a deal! $170 for the pair, already paid & now it's just a matter of waiting How did your conversion go? Did you clear the bottom? Do they blink faster now? Any cool pics?

Thanks. I guess I'll just forget about getting those 7 spoke SC wheels for now then.

Nice, glad that you were able to find them! I knew it wasn't that difficult.

My conversion went great. I've always been mechanically challenged but the tailights swap took me no more than 30 mins. to complete. I didn't clear the bottom because I think it would make too much of a contrast on my dark green SC (not to mention that they would also look like the taillights from a 97+ Prelude).

Unfortunately, they do blink faster now and my taillight warning light also comes on. But that's a small price to pay for having cooler taillights.

I had those chromes on my SC for a while when i first bought the car. They looked very nice. They even looked decent with the body kit before i got the supra rims. I still might have some old pics of it when it was stock with those rims. Just let me know if you want them. Id personally do the trade, but thats cause i was fond of those 7 spoked.

Thanks!

I would love to see some pix of your 7 spoke GS rims!

Do you still have them sitting around? Just in case if the trade doesn't follow thru, I may just buy them and sell my 10 spoke ones later.
