Default Uneven tread wear??

hey whats up guys... i bought my '03 lexus in october and thats like 10 months now... i know i drive my car hard but the tread on my tires is uneven.. the edges (towards the side that can be seen) on all 4 tires are almost bald.. however the insides of the tires have a lot more tread on em.. what the hell is up with that?? i've never done anything to my wheels and although i drive fast, i dont corner or take hard turns or anything... do you guys this have something to do with when i serviced my lexus for the 5,000 mile service check up or perhaps even from the factory and they aligned the wheels incorrectly?? what the hell should i do.. i haven't even hit 10,000 miles yet and im pretty much gonna have to replace my tires soon.. any advice would be helpful or if anyone else has had this kind of problem.. thanks

that's weird, maybe talk to the dealership and ask them to do an alignment. if you really don't do hard cornering that much i dont' see any reason why the outside wuld wear more if it's not alignment

Thumbs down

Have you rotated the tires yet? What air pressure are you running them at? And, yes....the alingment should be checked. I run a Goodyear and see the Bridgestone's are wore out on the average 14,000-21,000 miles on the original set. Crappy tire.....

well calm down first, alignment might not be the ONLY reason. tell them the issue and ask them to do alignment, etc... if it turns out it was all wrong, then blame it on them

I am not saying that Goodyear is the king of all, trust me...they have their own problems. I can only tell you what I have seen in this business. But the Eagle F1 I have seen on Vettes go as long as 40,000 miles, granted these are drag slicks but have seen more than one or two sets at this mileage.

just got my car back the dealer.. tustin lexus is quite gay. they said the alignment was fine and that theres nothing wrong with the car... the tires on the IS last around 10,000 miles average... thats the biggest bs ive ever heard. still doesnt explain why the edges of the tires are near bald and the insides are fine.. i am really pissed off right now.. i think im gonna write a letter to lexus or somethin...

Sometimes over inflation can cause wear on the outside shoulders. If you are inflating the the maximum inflation pressure listed on the tire you are over inflating. I inflate mine to 36 front and 34 rear to make up for a little bit of the push the car is built with. The RE040 is very soft though and does wear quickly. The pattern is not ideal but not uncommon.

I am having the same problem with my LS-400. The toe keeps shifting within four months after aligned. Is driving me crazy. Already worn outside edges of two set of OEM tires. Dealer has not given me an explanation why misalignment keeps happening. I first noticed the unusual tire wear at 15 to 18k miles. Then it happened again with the second set of OEM tires at about the same mileage. Now am getting ready to change them to MXV4+ but still very concerned if the same happens to the new tires. Dealer just told me to keep aligning the car every 6 to 12 months. So far frequent alignments has not solved the problem. I called Lexus Customer Service several times and got nowhere. I wonder how many owners are experiencing this same problem ?
