Default Are these OEM 18" wheels?

http://members.aol.com/CHARLIEHAUNGO/74161ONGS1

Somebody told me that these are optional OEM wheels on either the GS or LS in Japan. Is that true?

All of that aside, what do you think of the way they look?

Default Yes

They are optional wheels (dealer installed). Vacuum Pressure Cast, very light and a cool polished graphite color. Sam Khoury a member here in NYC has them. He got them on Ebay...I think they go for $1,100 or so from ngobros? They are 18 X 9.

I read that they weigh 22 pounds each... is this comparable to the 16" or 17" OEM wheels in a 98-00 GS400? The reason I ask is that I don't want to load the suspension out of its intended OEM specs.

You mean all of his wheels are fakes? What about the ones that I posted the picture of? When he sells those (apparently he sells them quite often), are they the real deal?

I've got 'em and love 'em. Handling is noticeably better.

How much worse will the ride quality and road noise be as opposed to the stock 16" wheels with all-season tires I have now?

Default Ride 18 vs 16

The 18's will have a noticebly "different" ride...17 vs 16 is almost un-noticeable in ride quality, but marked improvement in handling.

18's will be a little harsh for ride, and again eons better than 16's for handling. If you are not planning on dropping the car (suspension work) then 18's may not be your thing and you should maybe only get 17's.

I've had 16's (for about 4 months) too soft and too much tire roll. My 17's I like, but I can't help but think I should've done 18...I don't mind the trade-off since I have my GX for everyday "cushiness" and my GS is strictly for fun/nice weather. I am planning on 18's very soon, and am selling my 17's.

As far as noise goes, it will be noticeabley more with 18's and as you get wider, and unfortunately varies SIGNIFICANTLY by tire manufacturer/tread pattern, and as the tread wears down too.

Any chance you can get some pics of an SC with these wheels?
